Co-op Mode: Wolfenstein, Dead Space: Extraction & Shadow Complex

The first mid-week Co-op episode has arrived, and with it comes Nazis, zombies and a guy that looks like Nathan Drake. Join Sinan and Joe as they discuss the trials and tribulations of Wolfenstein, the genre-bending thrills of Dead Space: Extraction, and the Metroid-vania magnificence found within Shadow Complex. Also touched upon is Sinan’s Professor obsession, why Orson Scott Card is a douche, and which of the three above titles is most like a Sega CD-era Full Motion Video game.

Co-op Mode: Scribblenauts, Spyborgs, Wet & Unreal Tournament
The end of an era, and the start of an era. Or something less melodramatic. Maybe. You’ll have to listen to the cast to find out. And if you do, you’ll get to hear Joe considering if Scribblenauts has failed to realize its potential, and if in turn Spyborgs wasn’t given the platform to realize its own potential. Then Sinan doesn’t make a tactless pun about action shooter Wet, before questioning whether or not modern shooters have something to learn from Unreal Tournament. All this, and less, in this week’s, er, fortnight’s Big Red Potion Co-op Mode.

Co-op Mode: Batman: Arkham Asylum
Just Sinan and Joe in the Batpod for this week’s Batcast, which is all about Batman: Arkham Asylum - how did you guess? Arkham Asylum has been the subject of some summertime hype, but does the dark knight’s latest video game adventure stand up against the mixed bag of his previous outings? The dynamic duo discuss how Arkham Asylum uses the Batman license, its striking presentation, its odd blend of genres, and in particular how it resembles/apes a certain, memorable title from gaming past - and much, much more in an in-depth (but spoiler-free) look at the summer’s biggest title. All this, and Joe’s secret identity revealed, in this week’s BRP Co-op Mode. KAPLOW! NB: Thanks to Dits from The Gamer Scene for his assistance behind the scenes with this episode.

Co-op Mode: 2009.5 - A Delayed Odyssey
Where’s your Big Red Potion? Here’s your Big Red Potion! Apologies for the large delay with this week’s episode - all Sinan’s fault as his new Internet connection decided to run amok right from the go. To make up for it, this week’s Co-op Mode is a bumper edition that marks that cheeky chappy Sinan’s return from his Big Red Vacation. Joe and Sinan talk all about the games they’ve played in the first half of this year, ranging from conversation on why the Halo Killer should be killed, how Bionic Commando’s poker face didn’t hold steady, and how 2009 has heralded the return of the movie game. All this and discussion on Jeffrey Matulef’s nefarious schemes to kidnap ladies in this week’s delayed Co-op Mode.

Co-op Mode: The Games of E3 2009
The third Co-op Mode is upon us, this time an impromptu affair once again helmed by Joe. Nestling into the second seat for this week’s episode is returning champion John Laster - the only remaining survivor of last week’s E3 special - as we discuss the fallout from gaming’s biggest event. There were a number of innovative titles shown off at this year’s expo that attempted to change the way that we look at, play, or experience games. The two Js discuss some of these game-changing titles and talk about the impact that they could have on the landscape of interactive entertainment. Don’t worry about our very British friend and host, Mr. Sinan Kubba. He will be making his triumphant return on next week’s show. There will be cake.
