Episode 30: Call of Duty to Whom

NB: From the off, apologies for slightly poor sound quality, but in particular for background clicking noises – the result of a one-off oversight on Sinan’s part that probably came from recording at 3.30 in the morning.

Almost back to normal scheduling! This week’s show – recorded on Sunday 15th November – doesn’t feature Joe unfortunately as he had some personal and family stuff come up moments before recording, but he’ll be back next week. So, home alone Sinan invited GameCritic Brad Gallaway and Play Magazine’s Steve Haske to mull over the issues raised by a certain war-based video game and its controversy. With some focus on Modern Warfare 2, this week the pod panel talk about how games handle controversial topical themes like war, asking whether or not developers do indeed have any responsbility in handling them – and to whom. Next Monday there’ll be a Co-op Mode, and then as long as December doesn’t dump on us like November did it will full speed ahead with BRP through to the end of the year. Also, check out Steve’s addendum article here.
